About
Although our roots are deep in South Carolina, during the Great Migration, some of our ancestors decided to leave the Greenwood area in search of opportunity and a better life for themselves and their loved ones. They moved to Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Detroit, Cincinnati among other places. It was difficult to leave their families behind but they made the promise to go back home annually. And they did for a time, but with familial obligations, work and for other reasons, slowly they stopped returning.
The Wims Wimes Moragne Family Reunion was created to reunite the family so that loved ones could get back in touch, new members of the family could be introduced to cousins, and the family would learn about, be proud of and continue to share knowledge about their roots. It is a time to acknowledge and remember those who have become ancestors, sharing with those who are still here to strengthening our familial bond, uniting generations and rekindling memories.
